Part 3-4 Angels We Have Heard On High
-
Ps Laurence Lee
“Angels We Have Heard on High” has mysterious origins, likely written by a monk with deep biblical insight. Rooted in the ancient worship phrase Gloria in excelsis Deo, it retells Luke 2 and invites us to stand with the shepherds, hearing the angels and beholding the newborn King in Bethlehem.

About this series
For many of us, Christmas is incomplete without its songs. Christmas carols hold a special place in the hearts of not just believers, but also non-believers. They evoke emotions of joy, awe and devotion.
But we often sing them without thinking of their lyrics. We miss seeing that the words we sing have rich theological meaning, pointing to the reason for the season: the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
In this series, we will feature four loved Christmas carols. Every week, we will focus on one song, exploring who wrote it, its circumstances, and how God used it throughout history. Most importantly, we will savour the deep spiritual truths found in the carols, and allow them to draw us closer to our Lord Jesus.
